Swedish and Finnish: journalists visit the Vinhos Verdes Region

It was more than 60 wines in three days! Four Swedish journalists and one Finnish have visited, at the beginning of May, our Region, with the main goal of getting to know our wines better and spread this information in their native countries. As a joint initiative of the Vinhos Verdes Comission (CVRVV) and the VINIPORTUGAL, this group of journalists crossed the region, starting by the Sub-Region of Lima, going up to the Alvarinhos of Monção and Melgaço, after what they went down to the interior, following by the Valley of the Sousa, to finish in the edge of Douro, tasting the wines of Baião.

The visit of journalists to the Vinhos Verdes Region is a privileged way to promote our wines. The CVRVV promotes this type of initiatives very often. As they are visiting the Region, the journalists are guided by a representative of the CVRVV and, in this case, by the Viniportugal's president, Vasco D'Avillez. They both give information about the type of wines they are tasting, the characteristics of the production and grape varieties, the history and importance of each place.

As a first result of the visit, our guests have been well impressed with the white wines that were tasted and also pointed out the quality of the brandys, either wine brandy or pomace brandy. As far as our red wines are concerned, the journalists noticed the good balance that they have with the gastronomy, the regional dishes of the several places they visited.
